Huntsman

“Fel, didn’t you have a doctor’s appointment for that tumor they found? You can’t just leave us hanging like this! You have to tell us how it went. Because we care and certainly not because there’s a betting pool set up and some of us invested our life savings and 401k into you dying!”

Well, that’s good to hear because I’m not dying.”

“…good. Will you excuse me for a few minutes? I really have to make a couple of phone calls!”

I know how you feel. If I was dying, I wouldn’t have to look for work. I could retire early and just live off the money I saved up in my bank account and 401k for the few years I had left. But, no! Looks like I’ll have to continue looking for work and being a productive member of society. Lucky me -_-

Yeah, so I had some lab work done. Tumor didn’t spread. Not dying. As of right now, things are still in the air on what to do next. The Huntsman doctor needs to follow up my knee surgeon on where exactly he found the tumor. The knee surgeon told me he found it behind the knee, not to mention he insisted I continue going to physical therapy and meet with him after all this Huntsman stuff. Probably wouldn’t do that if he anticipated they were just going to chop off what we’ve been working on. But it’s a good idea to double check just in case, along with getting my samples into Huntsman’s labs so they can take a look. The real problem is the risk of spreading. If it’s in the knee, it definitely will. If it’s not and is just sitting around in tissue it might not. If it looks like it’s going to spread, you just amputate above the knee and continue living on. The doctor said he’s seen a few cases, similar to mine, where the tumor didn’t spread; it just stuck around in one area because it likes being there. Considering I’ve had knee issues for over a decade now and my chest scans came back normal seems to indicate this tumor is a hermit. Having lived in the same place for 9, going on 10, years this tumor definitely takes after me. If that’s the case, the only thing needed to do is to keep an eye on it, get an MRI scan twice a year to make sure it’s not getting into trouble and continue living the way I normal do.

“If you can call that living.”

Phone call done already?

“Yeah, turns out the person I’ve been placing bets with isn’t a bookie but rather a homeless dude who lives in a dumpster behind Wendy’s. Now that I think about it, it was rather odd that he insisted on me paying him in burgers. Considering the food payment and smell, I just assumed he was a French Connoisseur.”

Who demanded payments in American Fast Food Hamburgers?

”Beats the escargots he was eating when I found him. Though, now that I think he’s not really French, I guess he was just eating snails.”

Ew. Anyway, yeah, aside from that the doctor was just amazed at my weight and asked how I did it. I was still in the University’s system as 260, so they were expecting a big guy coming in and to see a much smaller Fel is cause for concern if that weight loss was sudden. Few people lose half their body weight in fat and even fewer still without any surgeries.

Special thanks to Jacob Duerden for driving me up. I did find it odd how he was angry at the possibility of my appointment coinciding with him being on vacation in California. He insisted on being here. Only for us to get to the doctor’s and ask if I wanted him to come along with me into the exam room. Jake, you practically demanded to be here. Why do all this only to wait in the lobby? Probably to dispel any notions of us being a couple. Not that our interactions dissuaded the nurses and assistance of anything. Asking about their socks while they’re typing on the computer and me reprimanding you for bothering them certainly didn’t help.
